Our Team

The CSA staff is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations of the organization and to service the membership. The staff report to the General Manager, who in turn reports to the Board of Directors.

Jennifer Nguyen

Jennifer Nguyen

Jennifer Nguyen attended Cambrian College where she completed an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations. After graduation, she was elected as the President of the Cambrian College Students’ Administrative Council and served two terms. Concurrently, in her second term at Cambrian, she was elected President of the College Student Alliance.
From there, Jennifer attended Cape Breton University (CBU) where she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration. During her time at CBU, Jennifer was hired as the Vice President of Student Life at the Cape Breton University Students’ Union and was the Interim President. Jennifer owned and operated her own real estate business after graduation and currently operates a small business. Up to August 2016, Jennifer was the Executive Director of the Niagara College Student Administrative Council focusing on operational excellence, transparency and student leadership programs.
Through entrepreneurial, student life and governance experience, Jennifer hopes to bring a new and exciting focus to the CSA to help grow the organization. Jennifer became General Manager in August 2016.

Ciara Byrne

Director of Advocacy

Ciara Byrne

Ciara Byrne attended Conestoga College, receiving a diploma in Business Administration Management. During her studies, Ciara served as a board member and served two terms as President of Conestoga Students Inc. She also served one year as President of the College Student Alliance. She brings experience in relationship management, strategy development and communications in both the corporate and in the not-for profit world. Ciara brings a proven track record of experience at MTCU representing CSA and a passion for the best possible experiences for Ontario college students Ciara values helping people grow and lead a happier life. She sees the biggest opportunity to fulfill her passion and values, in helping the student leaders of Ontario work towards a more affordable, transparent and quality education. Ciara became Director of Advocacy in September 2015.

John Horrox

Research & Policy Analyst

John Horrox

John Horrox completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree from Trent University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Queen’s University. John has experience undertaking research and community development in the public and non-profit sector. Over the last few years, John has gained international experience through studying and interning in Ghana as well as China. He is passionate about engaging stakeholders to strengthen the CSA and post-secondary education in Ontario. John became the Research and Policy Analyst in March 2014.

AJ Adams

Programs & Events Manager

AJ Adams

AJ Adams attended Algonquin College in Ottawa where he graduated with honours from the public relations program. During his time at Algonquin College, he was actively involved on campus as student ambassador, class representative, resident advisor and sat on the board of directors on the Algonquin Students’ Association. He brings experience in digital marketing and event management from both the non-profit and corporate sectors. Having a passion for higher education, AJ brings a wide-range of skills and experience to support CSA’s members. AJ became the Programs & Events Manager in August 2015

Emmaline Scharbach

Emmaline Scharbach

Emmaline Scharbach attended Cambrian College and graduated with honours from the Public Relations Advanced Diploma program. During her time at Cambrian, she served as the Director of Communications on the Students’ Administrative Council. Following graduation, she completed an internship with the CSA. She brings experience in media relations, social media and marketing. Combined with her passion for student life, Emmaline’s experience and enthusiasm will help strengthen communication efforts within the CSA. Emmaline became the Communications Manager in January 2016.
