PROVINCIAL ELECTION 2025

WHY IS ONTARIO HAVING AN ELECTION NOW?

On January 28, 2025 Premier Doug Ford notified the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario to dissolve the 43rd Parliament. This means the government has ended its current term ahead of schedule. This has set the stage for an early general election to be held on February 27, 2025.

What Does This Mean for You?

This election will directly impact students across Ontario. The next government will make key decisions on:

  • Tuition & Financial Aid – Changes to tuition fees, OSAP grants, and student loan repayment programs.

  • Housing & Cost of Living – Policies affecting rent prices, student housing availability, and affordability.

  • Jobs & Wages – Student employment programs, minimum wage adjustments, and job opportunities.

  • Public Transit – Funding for transit systems, fare discounts, and service improvements for students.

  • Mental Health & Campus Services – Investments in student healthcare, counselling services and resources.

The outcome of this election will shape policies that affect your education, finances, and daily life. Staying informed and casting your vote ensures student priorities are considered in future government plans.
